Colloquium ‘Where is Language? Where is Culture?’
Plaats: Trippenhuis, Kloveniersburgwal 29, Amsterdam

On the occasion of the Bicentenary of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Meertens Institute for the study of Dutch language and culture, has been graciously invited to organize a two-days colloquium on language and culture, titled ‘Where is language? Where is culture?

Though language and culture are clearly connected to each other, research is usually limited to one domain. Yet, presently there is a growing interest in the many connections between language and culture. It is the purpose of this event to look back at recent developments, draw up a first balance, and sketch further routes to explore.

Ten eminent speakers, specialized in the mutual connections between both domains will engage in debate both with each other and with the audience.

As the number of available places is limited (about 30), we kindly ask you to register with Femke Niehof. She will confirm your registration if places are still available.
