Grijn Santen, drs. E. van der (Ellen)

Ellen van der Grijn (b. 1968) is a Scientific Information Specialist at the Meertens Institute. She studied musicology and French at the University of Amsterdam. At the Meertens Institute she is part of the Song and Story thematic group and is involved in the Nederlandse Liederenbank (Dutch Song Database). Topics on which she is currently working include Music Information Retrieval (identification of melodies), description of the historical backgrounds of texts and melodies, and – outside office hours – research on musicians from fascist countries who sought exile in the Netherlands between around 1930 and the Second World War.
