Biography
Leendert Brouwer has been with the Department of ‘Naamkunde’ since 1979. He developed the documentation system ‘Names and Onomastics in the Netherlands and elsewhere’ (NNN). He is also behind the Dutch Family Names Database, which was transferred to the ‘CBG Centre for Family History’ when ‘Naamkunde’ was discontinued at the Meertens Institute in 2012. As an editor, he has written and edited thousands of lemmata for the surname database. He also devotes himself to writing naming articles, focusing mainly on name law and name change.
