Biography
Marianne de Laet is director of the Meertens Institute as of 1 June 2024. She holds a PhD in anthropology of science from Utrecht University. Her current focus includes ecology and climate change as focal points in research on culture and language in the Netherlands; the digitisation and safeguarding of the collections of the KNAW Humanities Cluster institutes; and identifying and stabilising the new research methods involved in these projects. Within her work, she finds it interesting and important to tap into and further develop new opportunities for cooperation between the institutes, as well as between individual research projects. Previously, De Laet worked as professor and academic dean at Harvey Mudd College in California, where she dealt with research, teaching, administrative affairs, and advising.
