Linguistics and Language VariationBiography
Marlou Rasenberg is guest researcher Linguistics and Language Variation at the Meertens Institute. Rasenberg studied Communication and Information Sciences (BA, Utrecht University) and Linguistics (Research MA, Radboud University Nijmegen). She received her PhD from Radboud University in 2023 for her thesis Mutual understanding from a multimodal and interactional perspective. Rasenberg is currently conducting research within the Cat-human interactions project (led by Prof. Marjo van Koppen) in which she investigates how humans and cats communicate in everyday interactions, such as playing or asking for food. Rasenberg’s research stems from her fascination with social interactions, and her aim is to discover how different means are used to achieve meaning, such as speech but also hand gestures, movement, use of physical space and senses such as touch and smell. Previously, Rasenberg was postdoctoral researcher at the Meertens Institute.
