Access to Collections Meertens Institute

Over 70.000 books, 4.000 journal titles, over 180 digital collections, thousands of hours of audio-recordings and more than 500 paper collections and archives together form a unique source of information about Dutch language and culture. Key themes in the collections are variational linguistics and ethnology. Via these links you can gain access to the collections of the Meertens Institute:

The Meertens Institute is certified with the CoreTrustSeal and aims at offering its collections in digital format and open access. The Meertens Institute is a CLARIN-B Centre. The Collection Plan 2020-2023 (pdf) describes the policy and ambitions for the coming period. Privacy is important to the Meertens Institute, and personal data are processed by us in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, AVG – Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens – in Dutch). Reading Room for Paper and Analogue Collections

Paper and analogue collections are stored in the Meertens Institute, where they are available for everybody who is interested in the research themes of the institute. If you make an appointment before visiting the institute, we will put the material ready for you in the reading room.  

Donations to the Meertens Institute collection

The Meertens Institute has built up an extensive collection in the field of Dutch language and culture. Do you have any diaries, audio material, letters, books, etc. (paper or digital) that we could use for research and are you considering donating them to the Meertens Institute?
