Biografie

Folgert Karsdorp is een onderzoeker gespecialiseerd in Computational Humanities en Culturele Evolutie aan het Meertens Instituut van de Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen in Amsterdam. Hij bestudeert hoe culturen veranderen en ontwikkelt methoden om culturele diversiteit en complexiteit te meten. Hierbij houdt hij rekening met mogelijke vertekeningen in schattingen. Hij past computationele modellen toe uit disciplines zoals Machine Learning, Culturele Evolutie en Ecologie. Buiten zijn onderzoeksinteresses heeft hij een passie voor onderwijs, met name in programmeren binnen de geesteswetenschappen. Hij is de auteur van een boek gepubliceerd door Princeton University Press, dat zich richt op het toepassen van Python in de analyse van geesteswetenschappelijke data.
